Very clever.

There are now several of these clever murals in the city of Georgetown in Penang. Most have been done by a young Lithuanian artist. The sad thing is that most young tourists go there now to see the street art and not the amazing pre-war buildings that have earned Georgetown its World Heritage listing. Penang has the greatest number of pre-war buildings in South East Asia and is a photographers delight. If anyone in the club would like to join us on a photo shoot in this Unesco World Heritage City please let me know.

I really like this. We done. You could build a library of these and they could make an exhibition in their own right.

Thanks Peter. I have a love/ hate relationship for these murals because they attract the type of tourist that has no appreciation for the heritage and real beauty of Georgetown.  At the same time I think they are very imaginative and artistic. Its hard for us to see young people in queues with their cameras clicking away at this bicycle when right behind them is an amazing building that has a history dating back to the 19th century and they dont even notice it !!

Happy Birthday

Posted by Peter Ryan on March 10, 2014 at 16:07 0 Comments

A little birdie has told me that our oldest member, Pat Rigby, turned 90 on 25th February.

Pat has done both the photography and image processing workshops with me and is a great example of getting out there and participating in life. It has been a pleasure to have Pat in my classes and I raise a glass to your continued enjoyment in life and photography.
